Tongue Tie and Dental Care for Infants and Young Children- Dana DelValle, Registered Dental Hygienist & Dr. Ariana Ebrahimian
The Birth Network of Monterey County presents a free community parenting series called Parenting 101, or P101, on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 6-7:00pm.
Dana DelValle, a Registered Dental Hygienist and Certified Myofunctional Therapist, will be joining us to speak on an important topic that impacts many little ones: tongue ties. With 7 years of experience as a dental hygienist and 2 years practicing myofunctional therapy, Dana brings a unique and deeply informed perspective on oral health, development, and function. Her passion lies in helping families understand the vital connection between oral structures and everyday functions like breathing, feeding, speech, and sleep.
During this session, she will be diving into:
What tongue ties are and how they present in infants and young children
How tongue ties can impact nursing, bottle feeding, swallowing, and early speech
Signs and symptoms to look out for as a parent
The role of myofunctional therapy in supporting treatment and long-term function
This presentation is especially valuable for moms (and dads!) who are curious, concerned, or just want to be informed about their child’s oral development. Whether you're navigating feeding challenges or simply want to learn more, this is a great opportunity to get clear, supportive information from a professional who cares deeply about children’s health and function.
Dr. Ariana Ebrahimian will be sharing about dental care for infants and young children with a short, practical talk on how to nurture your baby’s oral health from the start. She’ll cover simple daily habits, tips for supporting a healthy oral microbiome, and how early prevention sets the stage for a lifetime of healthy smiles.
