PCMC is guided by a set of core values. Parent education is delivered respectfully, is research-based, holistically honors the parent and child, and is appropriate for each age and stage.

Highly qualified parent educators share and model relevant, research-based curriculum in each class, responding to the specific needs of the families in attendance, focusing on building positive relationships and growing healthy, confident children. Play and Learn (PAL) classes are designed to increase parental resilience, build social connections, share knowledge of parenting and child development, provide concrete support in times of need, and support the development of social and emotional competence in children. Parents who attend PAL classes report feeling more informed, supported, and capable in their role.

PCMC PAL classes are currently offered Wednesdays and Saturdays. Check the website for details and registration.

Parents’ Place, an award-winning Parent Education Program of the Pacific Grove Adult School, has supported families for over 30 years. Parents’ Place offers an atmosphere of support where babies and children play and learn in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. Parents learn valuable parenting skills and techniques, receive and give support, and engage and connect with other families. Parents’ Place is currently offering weekly age-related classes for parents/caregivers of children birth-3 years and specialty classes in art, discovery science, storytelling, movement, and music through the 5th year. Classes are in-person and many have a live streaming option.

Teachers, all former students in the program, have Adult Education credentials in early childhood education. The curriculum represents many different philosophies and approaches to effective parenting. Teachers honor all parenting styles and appreciate and support each parent in their quest to enrich their personal parenting experience.
